Keep on doin' the works...

Want to encourage you in the work. Glad you found your way to ICCM. There are lots of linux users but most of us stay busy and lurk more than chat. I'm a missionary user and do tech support for people on ssl email systems. Enjoy using Mandriva but will play with Ichthux and try to give you some feedback from the perspective of a tweaker who is still very much learning how to do things in linux. It will be a bit of a change to switch from rpm based after using it so long. :-o Be blessed and prosper... there are many in developing nations that need a workable OS to replace their pirated M$ stuff.

Thank you for the support

Thank you for the support kmack. We are happy to have found ICCM too, and we hope we can build something together, for the benefit of the Church. God be blessed for the great work He gives us to do today \o/ <>< Raphaël

I discovered Ichthux Linux

I discovered Ichthux Linux *after* I ordered Ubuntu CE last week. I'm watching both distro websites weekly, staying updated to any news. I hope christian developers continue developing Linux christian distros. But I also hope there's a direction change. Jeepers. All we need is one more Linux distro, right? I hope eventually someone will have the "christian" or "safe family internet" approach & apply it to a distro that is as user friendly to the average MS Windows user the way Linspire is, for example. Linux distros have their place but I really don't see christian distros breaking a lot of new ground unless there is a distro that is much more user friendly than 99% of the distros out there. I've been trying to make the *complete* jump to Linux for 2+ years. I tried Linspire 4.5 & enjoyed it, but I got fed up with "little things", like not being able to go back to a previous release of an updated CNR product (Bluefish editor) for example. In Windows I can install & uninstall, very easily. Try installing a new program in any Linux, especially if you're a newbie. All it takes is something that only a tech can solve to discourage me. I currently run a dual-boot config w/XP Home & Mepis 3.4 which I just installed. I like the looks of Mepis but it won't even recognize my cd player (Sony) & as goofy as techies think it is, it's that very type of "little thing" which will keep most users, the general home p.c. market as well as work environments, from even trying Linux. Linux is not made for the average user. It's not made for "power-users". It's made for very technical people & that seems to leave me no other choice but to go back to MS Windows. Yet I keep my eyes on Linux distros, hoping someone will finally, really come out with a Linux distro that is easy to use but even more inportantly, is christian oriented in it's vision & content & has a support base that answers questions & makes learning as painless & un-time-consuming as possible. Jesus will return before that happens.
