Is Linux for satanists?

Every time you chmod 666 a file Jesus weeps. Think of Jesus!

What are you talking about?

What are you talking about? Jesus was the first troll in history, just look how much he pissed off everyone. Not a very successfull troll but well, he was the first one - he was experimenting, so it was to be expected that he would end up nailed to a tree eventually. He was a great spammer too, he spammed everyone with magic stuff and he's the true ancestor of those who now offer penis enlargement magic pills, although he had better taste (except that time when he spit in the eyes of a blind guy, that one was terribly gross IMHO, but the resurrection and ascension thing were absolutely l33t, like typing IDDQD and IDCHOPPER in real life). Back to talking about the distro. The problem is, even if you're favored by the gods (all three of them) and thus gain the spiritual power to make install, will the suspension of critical thought needed to sustain faith hinder the development of your distro? Moreover, do you have the resources - especially the time - to evaluate the morality of those problematic packages - vulgar names like BitchX and PornView, theft-inducing p2p software - and decide whether they should be included? Or will you provide access to all of the software with no blocks whatsoever, thus hiding under a layer of holyness all that filth? Finally, shouldn't your distro install by default filters that block out sites that talk about evilution and other pseudoscience inspired by Satan, together with anything that contradicts passages of the Holiest of All the Holy Books(TM)? Shouldn't you worry about the immortal souls of your users rather than functionality and freedom? I hope you will find a solution to those problems soon! Good luck! *oops I posted in the wrong place, should have been a reply to TheDeveloper :( Sorry

Hi and welcome to these

Hi and welcome to these forums. Thank you for your interest in this distribution, and for giving your opinion honestly. Jesus was indeed what you could call a troll. I wouldn't call him the first one in history, but he surely challenged a lot of people in their beliefs, by giving a totally new and fresh view on the Scripture, such a view only God could have. He was indeed crucified for having explained the Scripture a different way than what men had understood. For this, many people who had opened eyes recognized in Him the Son of God, while people who chose to hold firm to their own view of the Scripture saw a threat to their earthly power on men. As a reminder, Christians have only one God, whose name is "I was, I am and I will be", the God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob. I will not go deep in explanations as I'm sure you know how to read and can find sources about trinity. Vulgar names, as sin in general, are parts of the reality of out society. Christians do not try to hide the truth from their face. We are aware of being sinners, of needing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to save us, and of not being able of holiness by ourselves. As of including packages such as BitchX and PornView by default, they are not included in Ubuntu by default and we have no reason to add them. We are not (at least so far) going to have our own repository of packages and we are not to have these packages removed from Ubuntu. Just because we set a church in a city does not mean we will remove all the sexual posters in this city during the night. That would not really help and it would be quite useless as people would just put them back again on the next day. We are to fight darkness with light. Hiding darkness is pointless, you can only put light in it. FYI, P2P software is not theft, it is sharing, and then it all depends on what you share. Programs such as Bitorrent are necessary to the open-source world and enhance the work of lots of developers, for obvious reasons. Again, let's not mix the tool and what is done with it. A knife has always been useful to cut bread, and yet you can kill with it. Christianity does not aim to lock people in rules. On the contrary, the teachings of Christ are there to free us from sin, as it was said: "The truth will free you." We are not to prevent people from learning about anything. We are to witness of the reality of God and of a personal relationship with Him. I believe that a personal relationship with God leads to the desire of following His teachings and to the aknowledgement of His truth. Most of us in the Ichthux team are actually scientists, and yet we are believers. It is not exclusive, and knowing about sciences should only make us humble about the greatness of God, as what humans get to know is mostly that they really don't know much about the creation, however much they discover. We found molecules? There are atoms! We found atoms? There are protons/neutrons/electrons! We found these? There is even smaller and more fascinating things in the infinitely small world, and the same can be said about continents, planets, stars, galaxies... I do worry everyday about the immortal souls of all the humans living on this planet. I do worry about their need to know Jesus Christ, and I do worry about their freedom. God gave us the choice to get to know Him or not. He gave us the choice, once He revealed Himself to us, to get to follow Him or not. It's all about freedom. You know you can be saved or spend the rest of eternity in hell. You know Jesus came to save you, but you still can choose to live in sin and enjoy short-lasting pleasures, gathering a little treasure on earth that will disappear in 1, 5, 10 or 50 years. But you have the choice, the freedom. Accepting Christ in your life is all about freedom. God chose to not force us, so we could have the choice and be rewarded because of the choice we make in our hearts. Why would we restrict the choices humans have in using Ichthux when God Himself gives us choice to sin or not? We shall not voluntarily lead people to temptation, but we have no reason to remove them the possibility of choosing it. This is at least my opinion. The shepherd does not put fences everywhere in the mountains. It is better for him to just lead his sheep straight. Solutions to all problems we will face are in God. We do not have to find them with our brain, as I believe we are led by God and He will provide solutions to every problem at the right time, even greater solutions than the ones we would find ourselves. God bless To Him all glory in all times Raphaël

Are forums for satanists?

Every time you troll Jesus weeps. Think of Jesus!

But serioiusly

666 being Satanic is ridiculous and superstitious. To begin with, it's not the number of the beast it's the number of his name. and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name. (Revelation of John 13:17, WEB) And furthermore you can chmod 777 but it's not recommended as it's not secure and would get you hacked. (666 can too if you're really not careful with where you do it) chmod 666 [something here] is also not that common anyway.

uh..... What?
