I killed the desktop

I installed ichthux on my Gateway computer that already has XP Pro SP2 loaded. I have a dual boot configuration where XP is on C and Linux is on D. I installed Linux and updated it via the update program (Adept I guess). I guess I got carried away installing and trying new apps and wound up installing something that killed it. I installed spam assasin thinking that if I am going to use Linux to send and receive e-mail I would want some sort of anti virus and spam control. So, I downloaded spam assasin and installed it. I did that on Saturday and then last night I tried to fire up Linux and the desktop wont come up. A nice gentleman on the support irc channel helped me to finally get the spamassasin mta uninstalled. I no longer get the black screen with white letters where it shows spam assasin trying to load. I till get the splash screen with the blue ribbon under it that shows loading progress but it is stopped and the desktop wont come up. I guess I will have to remove the Linux partition on D and then start all over again. I figure it is all part of the learning curve.
